These stones were commissioned by SFAC for the Terminal 2, San Francisco International Airport in 1983. Stacking Stones, created by Seiji Kunishma, weighs 14 tons and is created from stone quarried near Nagoya. Each section of rock was shaped to fit into the next and the outer surface was chiseled or polished to create contrasts of color, texture, and depth. The stones weigh over 14 tons.
