Firmament

Firmament is 21,600 LEDs displaying animated images accompanied by classical music. Usually, 100s of visitors recline below, taking in the spectacle. (One of its nicknames is ““Permament””.)

Meet the Creator

"Christopher Schardt is an Oakland-based sculptor, musician and computer programmer. He is widely known for his LED sculpture, which has been presented in Norfolk, Las Vegas, Houston, San Francisco, Burning Man and Kona, Hawai’i. In 2018, his work will be in the ““No Spectators - The Art of Burning Man”” show in the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution.

His pieces strive to not just be interesting things to look at, but comfortable environments in which to be. He is the author of LED Lab, an iPhone/iPad app that controls 1000s of LED sculptures worldwide."
