Ed McCullough’s "Meridian VII" sculpture (14' x 20' round; stainless steel; 2002) uses steel arcs and planes to bring this outdoor courtyard to life at Chicago Police headquarters, inviting viewers to socialize and interact with the piece.
The sculpture, which was commissioned by the Chicago Public Art Program, has raised steel planes that beckon the viewer to enter and, in so doing, become part of the artwork. The horizontal surfaces function as steps and seating. Diagonal elements function as back rests.
