SAAR's artistic motto is to give space to inner feelings, to bring the formless into form and to transfer it to the outside as personal truths on the canvas.
Saar, civically Erzsebet Nagy Saar, born 1974 in Hungary, lives and works in Vienna.
For SAAR, colors rarely convey symbolic statements, nor do they represent metaphors, but are a simple medium with which the artist can express her sensual experience.
The expansive powerful brushstrokes and structures set gesturally with other tools sometimes push in or out of the picture from the left, sometimes from the right. Without stringent conception and planning considerations, but often by means of numerous layers of paint that create relief-like surfaces, SAAR intuitively develops her powerful formal language.
Whether in her largest canvases, which stretch up to ten meters in length, or in the small works on paper, SAAR lets us participate in her thinking, feeling, and unconscious actions, which push outward through her painting. She places before us a small part of her innermost being, her inner landscapes and emotions, inviting us to explore the boundless world of experience of an exciting artist from individual perspectives.
Erzsebet Nagy Saar is represented by Galerie Amart Austrian Modern Art Vienna.
