'1915' Exterior Mural
inThornton Park, Orlando, FL
Thornton Park is one of downtown Orlando's quintessential historic neighborhoods and currently reigns as the epicenter for all things hip. James Thornton was integral in the expansion of several Orlando neighborhoods. It was believed that Thornton resided on James Street, which was named after him in 1913, along with other thoroughfares — Thornton Avenue and Thornton Lane.In 1915 the namesake neighborhood became Thornton Park. Lake Eola sits beside the historic neighborhood and you can find the iconic swans of Orlando year-round. I wanted to commemorate James Thornton's contribution to the city and give recognition to the long-term residents of Lake Eola. The mural sits inside the Thornton Park parking garage alongside other local artist's murals.
