Item Details
It is my love letter to Cambodia Town which is the neighborhood I grew up in Long Beach. It should serve as a monument to young Asian-American men to fight mass media and cultural emasculation.
Special thanks to my dudes @orvz1 and @rfx.one for slugging this one out with me. Thank you to @vanndearlyn for the time to help us and also to those who came by and supported during the painting stages.

Bodeck Luna Hernandez

Long Beach, CA

An immigrant from Manila, Philippines, Bodeck has been creating pieces that compound the sensory habit of replaying a distant visual memory, while pixelating expired recollections. Exploring the relationship between nostalgia, social empowerment, and modern society’s heavy reliance on disposable technology and consumerism is a recurring theme in his work. His background in street art heavily influences his figurative paintings, illustrations and murals.

Bodeck’s site-specific murals aimed to honor local residents are located across Long Beach and its neighboring cities wether it via Pow!Wow! Long Beach, private commissions or collaborations with the city. Some of his commissioned clients include LA Metro, Audi, Music Center LA, OC Weekly, LA Weekly and Covered California to name a few. One of the founders of HelloWelcome Art Collective, he showcases paintings, murals and curates other artists’ pieces in DIY pop-up art shows throughout the city to display other up and coming emerging artists. Bodeck has been appointed as the Art Director for the first annual Long Beach Filipino Festival in 2018. From commercial and private commissions to album covers, he aims to bind the community by showcasing local talent and businesses.
