Acrylic on canvas.
A kelly green bold curve takes the stage in this abstract acrylic painting. There was a feeling of freedom and experimentation during the making of this work. The odd green curve ends in a point almost like a hoof. The mood is magical and fanciful and aims to evoke that feeling in the viewer.

Colorful fine art paintings connecting with the Viewer through abstraction.

As an eastern studies and meditation student, Powell explores channels of awareness through abstract art. Her work examines how our thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and actions, directly and indirectly, manifest our world. She plays with light, color, and texture through abstract expressionism to reflect an inner world. The motifs are born from direct experience, allowing intuition to guide her. Strokes and layers act as a reflection of life and all its energy. The work invites viewers to visit a realm beyond the physical but instead in a space-between and find our inherent interconnectedness in that space.
Powell earned her BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design and continued studies in painting and Spanish while living in Mexico and Chile for 18 years before returning to the U.S. in 2019. While painting has been her primary medium, she is also an actor, musician, and recording artist.
