Each year my family spends the Christmas Holiday in Laguna Beach California and one of the annual events is a Debutante Ball. We had just returned from California and I brought this blank canvas to my sisters house along with a set of artist water soluable wax crayons so I could do an art project with my niece. Oliva, who is three, calls herself, "a serious artist", and helped me to cover the first layer with scribbles and marks. The canvas evolved over time but it makes me happy to know there is an outline of her foot and lots of her scribbles underneath! I call this one "Diary of a Debutante" as I think of Olivia growing up and hope that she will indeeed become a serious artist.
