Award Winning Children's Furniture
Architect and designer, Katharine Huber created Wit, a children’s furniture collection. Wit’s design is unique in its meticulous attention to how children interact with furniture. Comprising tables, chairs and stools, the Wit collection combines timeless design style with functionality suited for children.
“I developed the Wit collection prototypes by carefully considering how my own children move, imagine and play,” said company founder Huber. “The guiding principle was that the furniture should be strong enough for their typically rambunctious behavior, portable enough to be picked up and rearranged as they wished. And, it was also important that the furniture be visually appealing to both kids AND their parents.
The collection is distinguished by clean, simple lines without resorting to clichéd, childlike elements. The timeless design and durable construction allow for these pieces to be passed on to others and not end up in our landfill.
Each Wit piece is uncompromisingly thoughtful in its design, with rounded, smooth child-friendly edges and concealed connections without cliché childlike elements. All Wit furniture is produced in the U.S. The products utilize FSC certified wood, non-toxic materials and finishes and respect the natural environment in their production. All Wit finishes are Green Guard certified.
The Wit Chair is a recipient of four prestigious design awards. (Architizer A+ Award-Honorable Mention, AN Award-Special Mention, Interior Design Best of Year Award-Honoree and International Design Award (IDA)-Silver Recipient).
Katharine’s work is distinguished by its enduring design, attention to scale and sensitivity towards human interaction with the built environment. “ I believe good design matters, and that it can evoke a sense of well-being, positively impacting people’s, especially kids’ lives.”
