This piece, as with the rest of the DOT dot collection was inspired by the shape sorter toy for children. I would always go against the norm. Put the damned circle in the square hole. It fits, so why not?!
It was around that time that I got diagnosed with ADHD...
I still put the cylinder in the square hole, because why not! There are usually multiple ways to achieve a desired outcome.
My desire to create minimalistic pieces derives from the total chaos that is my mind. I find peace when I can take 400 million ideas in my head and put them into one calming piece. Black is the shade that calms me. To me it's not a negative color, it's the "color" of beginnings. It's the base for any color to stand out on, even more so than white.
Black is daring and takes guts to use.
I know that I am taking a huge risk creating my whole line solely with different blacks, but I'm not making this for everyone. This is for a select few. The ones who know what they want. The ones that create their own happiness. The ones that search for meaning.
Sure you can look at this as "just furniture", but it is so much more. This is a usable sculpture. This is something that will stay with you forever and will be passed on. I created this because every time you look at it, I want you to feel inspired!
