Laurie Blumenfeld Design was called in to breathe new life into a family’s routinely used dining room in Westcheser, NY.

The design concept was inspired by the large-scale painting her clients purchased on a trip to Puglia, Italy. Laurie custom designed a bespoke rug and dining table to play off artist Rocco Ungaro’s graphic palette. The Arteriors chandelier and RH Modern chairs compliment the design. The custom blue Mod Shop credenza adds a pop of color and reflects the blue, organic stripe in the rug.

Born and raised in Westport, CT, Laurie Blumenfeld-Russo was inspired to pursue a life in design after celebrating her 13th birthday on a family trip to India. This early experience ignited a life-long passion for travel, design, and collecting and eventually broadened her horizons to Asia, South America, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and beyond.

Laurie spent the first part of her career in a creative, brand marketing role, where she led the special events department for Nickelodeon. With a strong desire to follow her passion for design, Laurie left the comfort of the corporate world and enrolled in Parsons’ highly coveted design program, where she obtained a degree in Interior Design. Laurie was immediately sought after for her global style and unique eye and launched her eponymous firm LBR | HOME in 2014, which is now known as Laurie Blumenfeld Design to encompass the firm’s expansion into commercial and hospitality spaces, as well as product design.

Laurie Blumenfeld Design’s projects range from New York City apartments and commercial office spaces to complete renovations throughout the Northeast and Washington DC. Laurie and her projects have been published in House Beautiful, CNBC, Lonny, Domino, Martha Stewart Living, Aspire Design and Home, Apartment Therapy, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and more.

Laurie lives in Brooklyn Heights with her husband Bob and their Australian shepherd Ava with a completely renovated rooftop oasis, which functions as their “at-home” vacation home for these travel lovers.
