A beautiful round, hand-turned bowl in Norfolk Pine measuring 290mm wide and 120mm high displaying the characteristic, evenly spaced reddish radial knots created by the symmetrical branches of this particular species that tend to encircle the trunk evenly in sets of 6 all the way up the tree. Endemic to Norfolk Island, a small island in the Pacific Ocean between New Zealand and New Caledonia, the Norfolk Pine (also known as the Norfolk Island Pine) is in fact not a pine at all but a conifer. They've been recorded in South Africa since the 1800s and now grow all over the Western Cape. Rodney uses timber from trees that have naturally fallen and so his practice is one of sustainability, repurposing that which otherwise would inevitably go to waste or end up as firewood.

"Hand-turned wooden bowls. Each artwork is totally unique and derives its character from the beautiful individuality of the tree that gave birth to it."
