Anima - Public Sculptures

Creator not accepting inquiries

Created by Jim Sanborn, this sculpture was commissioned by Alexandria Real Estate Equities in cooperation with the Redevelopment Agency of the City of San Francisco Percent for Art Program. Seen at 1700 Owens Street, this larger-than-life cylindrical piece contains excerpts of ancient text and poetry in different languages and is lit from within at night. Themes in his work have included “making the invisible visible”, with many sculptures focusing on topics such as magnetism, the carioles effect, secret messages, and mysteries of atomic reactions. There is a sign near the piece with the translation and the origination of the texts that appear in the art piece.
