The Yūsoku Crossing — Japanese Ceremonial Silk Lumbar Pillow, Court Pattern in Coral and Gold

Price from €235 to €335

A lumbar pillow cover in Japanese ceremonial silk, cut from a Nishijin fukuro obi (袋帯): yūsoku-mon (有職, the codified patterns of the imperial court — karakusa, sayagata, hanabishi) in diagonal bands across coral silk. Envelope-pocket back, no metal against the silk; 50 × 31 cm (also 36 × 31 cm). For warm, heraldic interiors. Spot clean only. Unrepeatable, finished at the Renaras atelier, Amsterdam. Yūsoku-mon. The patterns of the imperial court. The codified textile vocabulary of the Japanese imperial court — karakusa, sayagata, hanabishi — woven here in diagonal bands across coral silk. Across a warm coral-terracotta silk ground, diagonal bands of different classical textile patterns cross and overlap at dynamic angles: karakusa arabesque scrollwork in burnished gold, sayagata key-fret geometry in teal and cerulean, hanabishi floral crests in sage-green and crimson. The effect is kaleidoscopic — a textile that reveals different layers depending on where the eye rests. The coral gives the composition its warmth. The crossing bands give it its conversation. A pillow for navy sofas, cream linen daybeds, Parisian rooms with herringbone parquet — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared table. The face carries the court pattern composition. The reverse is finished in the obi's original gold satin with a refined sayagata diamond weave. Envelope pocket closure. No metal touches the visible silk. Product type Lumbar pillow cover Silk source Japanese ceremonial obi (pre-loved); origin Japan. Weave / technique Nishijin-ori 西陣織 (fukuro obi 袋帯) Motif Yūsoku-mon 有職 (imperial-court patterns — karakusa, sayagata, hanabishi) Construction Envelope-pocket closure; no metal against the visible silk Dimensions 50 × 31 cm; also 36 × 31 cm Origin of silk Japan Assembled in Amsterdam, Netherlands Care Spot clean only Unrepeatable Yes SKU REN-PIL-026-L Renaras: Japanese ceremonial silk, reimagined for daily life. Each piece arrives with its own passport from the atelier — a small handmade record of the silk's first life and its transformation, signed and dated in Amsterdam. One silk. One story. One piece. Never repeated.

Renaras is an Amsterdam atelier that transforms vintage Japanese ceremonial silk (kimono, obi, furisode and uchikake) into contemporary objects for the home and wardrobe. Wall tapestries, silk textile paintings, bed runners, cushions, table runners, placemats, napkins, bottle sleeves and knot bags are each cut from a single textile, so every piece is unrepeatable. The practice follows mottainai, the Japanese conviction that nothing of value should be wasted. Silk woven for ceremony is given a second life rather than left folded away. Each piece is finished by skilled seamstresses and accompanied by a record of its provenance.
