The Sango-Ami — Japanese Ceremonial Silk Table Runner, Amime Net in Coral and Silver - Linens & Bedding
Price €325
Sango-iro. The colour of the living sea. Coral — warm enough to animate a winter table, vivid enough to hold its own against the palest linen — woven through the disciplined geometry of the amime net. A Japanese ceremonial silk table runner, cut from a single obi and finished at the Renaras atelier in Amsterdam. Against the coral ground, the surface is animated by sweeping intersecting arcs woven in luminous blush and pale silver thread: a bold geometric abstraction of the traditional amime net pattern, historically signifying the capture of prosperity. At each intersection, precision-woven nodes punctuate the rhythm with a quiet tactile dimension. The coral gives the composition its life. The net gives it its rhythm. A runner for a table near water or wanting it, the fishing-net amime cast in coral over silver. The runner is lined in undyed silk to protect the face. No metal touches the visible silk. Renaras: Japanese ceremonial silk, reimagined for daily life. Each piece arrives with its own passport from the atelier — a small handmade record of the silk's first life and its transformation, signed and dated in Amsterdam.
