Inspired, insightful art
Kimani discovered his talent early and started experimenting with it trying various forms of artistic expressions. He acquired a diploma in Art and Design in college. Kimani worked as a researcher, a booking clerk and a banker after college before fully embarking on the arts. He has worked as an illustrator for various organizations including the Institute for education in democracy in Kenya, National Democratic Institute, IEBC Kenya, HAART Kenya amongst others. Kimani has also ventured into interior design and got involved in exciting projects both for residential and commercial buildings.
Kimani has worked as a leader for an artist’s organization {Kenya National Visual Artists} and with the Kenya government through the Ministry of culture as a committee member of the National Visual Arts Committee, He was instrumental in organizing the first government sponsored residency as well as set up an art gallery for the artists.
Kimani has exhibited in various places including the Kenya Museums affordable art show, The Journey, Secret Garden art show, UM Gallery Waterfront in Nairobi Kenya, Blue prolific studios and The Heights art studio and Gallery in Houston USA amongst others. Kimani also does commissions, especially portraits and murals. He has also worked as an adjudicator, trainer and mentor.
Kimani believes in experimenting and discovering new techniques. He loves working with oil colours on canvas as well as crafts. His work is inspired by life, the events that shape daily human activity.
