Southern Gales
Southern Gales explores the restless energy and raw power of wind moving across a turbulent southern landscape. Sweeping, elongated forms surge, twist and overlap, creating continuous movement across the four canvases of 40 x 30 cm each. Deep blacks, rich browns and earthy tones form the foundation, while flashes of copper, gold, cream and green emerge like light breaking through a storm.
The horizontal flow evokes wind, waves and shifting atmospheric currents. Dark passages create depth and mystery, while lighter areas bring moments of illumination and calm. Although each panel has its own rhythm, the four canvases work together as one flowing image, with the divisions creating subtle pauses within the movement.
