Seamlessly bridging centuries of imperial grandeur with contemporary interior design, this Museum Edition Qing Dynasty Qianlong Style Wood-Fired Blue and White with Underglaze Red (Qinghua Youlihong) "Sea-Wave Dragon" (Canglong Jiaozi) Plum Vase (Meiping) stands as the ultimate pinnacle of traditional Chinese porcelain artistry. Designed to serve as a commanding visual anchor for collector's cabinets, executive desks, and curated display pedestals, its majestically proportioned 34.3 cm (13.5 in) silhouette, luminous sapphire-blue swirling seas, vibrant crimson-red ascending dragon, and classic broad-shouldered contours bring an opulent Oriental aesthetic that effortlessly elevates both prestigious Western living spaces and refined Eastern studies.

The Art of Reproduction & Lineage
This masterpiece is born from a profound dedication to preserving intangible cultural heritage in Jingdezhen, the historic porcelain capital of the world. Rooted in a family lineage descending directly from the official imperial kilns (Guan Yao) of the Song Dynasty, our co-designers Yuchen and Judy, alongside master artisans, meticulously reproduce museum-caliber treasures. Modeled after celebrated Qing Dynasty Qianlong imperial porcelain ("Fang Qing Qianlong") and the legendary regulatory drafts of the Imperial Household Department (Neiwufu Zaobanchu), this specific Meiping vessel is a faithful homage to esteemed palace kiln artifacts, capturing the supreme painterly refinement, majestic proportions, and sovereign elegance of the high Qianlong era.

The "Ruby & Sapphire" Underglaze Craftsmanship (Qinghua Youlihong) & Traditional Wood-Fired Kiln (Chai Yao) Odyssey
Revered by collectors as "Rubies and Sapphires in Porcelain" ("Hong Lan Bao Shi"), the Blue and White with Underglaze Red ("Qinghua Youlihong") technique represents the most demanding pinnacle of ceramic chemistry and brushwork:
- Reconciling Opposing Firing Physics: Underglaze cobalt blue (Qinghua) requires a high-temperature reducing atmosphere at 1320°C (2408°F) to achieve its deep sapphire brilliance, whereas underglaze copper red (Youlihong) is notoriously volatile, demanding a precisely controlled strong reduction atmosphere between 1250°C and 1280°C (2282°F–2336°F) to bloom into rich crimson. Harmonizing these two conflicting chemical thresholds on a single curved vessel leaves virtually zero margin for error.
- Fine "Glutinous Jade" Porcelain Body ("Tai Zhi Ru Nuo"): Hand-thrown from meticulously refined kaolin clay, the porcelain body is exceptionally dense, compact, and flawless, offering a warm, unctuous tactile quality reminiscent of fine glutinous jade.
- Traditional Wood-Fired Kiln ("Chai Yao") Mastery: Unlike modern gas or electric kilns, this Meiping is fired in a traditional wood-burning kiln fueled entirely by natural timber. The organic interplay of leaping wood flames, falling ash, and shifting kiln temperatures creates a lustrous, fabric-like glaze texture ("Ying Run Ru Zhi") imbued with antique warmth. Because kiln masters must regulate the fire entirely through experience and intuition over a grueling multi-month production cycle, the rejection rate is staggering—making every surviving vase that achieves both brilliant cobalt blue and vivid copper red a one-of-a-kind triumph.

The Motif — A Majestic Tableau of the Ascending Dragon & Surging Seas ("Hai Shui Long Wen" / "Canglong Jiaozi")
The classic Meiping silhouette—characterized by a neat 6.1 cm narrow mouth, short neck, full 21 cm rounded shoulders, and a gracefully tapering body resting on an 11.7 cm foot—serves as a continuous 360-degree canvas of dynamic imperial power:
- Dynamic Spatial Composition ("Long Zi Guo Ping Shen"): The muscular dragon coils organically around the broad shoulders and full belly, emerging and disappearing amidst a tempest of swirling clouds, auspicious red flames, and foaming ocean currents, anchored at the base by layers of stylized cresting waves ("Haishui Jiangya").
- Three Core Masterpiece Details:
* Spirit-Captivating Dragon Visage ("Wei Mu She Shen"): The dragon head is rendered with extraordinary vitality and precision—featuring expressive, commanding eyes, flowing whiskers, and a billowing mane that radiate noble dignity and lifelike spirit.
* Densely Layered Scales & Serpentine Form ("Lin Wen Xi Mi"): Outlined and shaded in rich underglaze red, the coiling torso showcases hundreds of finely hand-drawn scales with vivid three-dimensional depth, blending anatomical power with exquisite brushwork.
* Mighty Five-Clawed Imperial Talons ("Jing Zhao Zhang Wei"): Wide-spread, powerfully sculpted talons stride through billowing clouds and crimson flame wisps ("Huo Yan Wen") with crisp, decisive lines and dynamic energy.
- Sapphire-and-Ruby Visual Tension ("Hai Wen Tuo Long"): Master painters apply graded washes of cobalt blue to depict the roaring sea and rolling mist, creating a breathtaking blue-and-red chromatic contrast that amplifies the depth and movement of the rising dragon.
- Imperial Auspiciousness ("Canglong Jiaozi"): In classical palace culture, the motif of the mighty dragon ascending through surging seas ("Canglong Jiaozi" — Imperial Legacy and Rising Fortune) symbolizes generational wisdom, unstoppable upward momentum, career triumph, and sovereign prosperity for the household.
