Carried by Light moves through deep, currents of blue, with light breaking across the surface in scattered, steady points - present throughout, never overwhelming. Commissioned for the surgical lobby at RWJ Barnabas Health's Vogel Medical Center, this piece was built to hold space for patients and families in a moment that calls for calm and quiet reassurance, light finding its way through even in the deepest water.

This is an original oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas, built up through many thin layers of transparent oil glaze for depth and luminosity. The sides of the canvas are painted as an extension of the painting, and the piece is varnished with a UV protective coating prior to shipping. Arrives ready to hang.

Light on water, held in memory

Laura Browning's work is a sustained investigation of light as it reflects and refracts across water - its shifting rhythms, its kinetic dialogue with depth and surface. Her process is rooted in prolonged observation of light on water across different hours, seasons, and geographies, carried back to the studio as embodied memory and rendered in layers of transparent oil glaze.

Her work is held in permanent collections at Delta Airlines Sky Club at LAX, Mayo Clinic, Apollo Global Management in New York City, Kaiser Permanente, RWJ Barnabas Health, and Sutter Health, as well as luxury hotel galleries in Tokyo and private homes internationally. She is represented by galleries in the United States, Shanghai, and Tokyo, and her work has been featured in Modern Luxury Interiors and sold through artist partnership programs with West Elm and Williams Sonoma Home.
