A plum bone inlay drum side table with a hand set bone swirl, made to order in India.
The spiral starts as a small coil at the centre of the top and spirals down the entire side of the drum in one continuous line. Nothing here is stacked bands or repeated segments, so the pattern shifts as you move around the piece.
Every pale strip is buffalo bone, cut, shaped, and set into the ground by hand before the surface is sanded flat and polished.
Black and bone is the most familiar palette in bone inlay. This one trades it for a deep plum ground, which reads as a solid jewel toned drum from across a room and resolves into the swirl up close. The tone sits well against warm wood and brass, which is also why the base rests on brass capped turned feet rather than a plain wood foot.
The drum shape keeps the footprint small, so it works beside a sofa, next to an armchair, or as a bedside table where floor space is short.
