"Bringing therapy vibes to the canvas, creating an emotional connection"
Vanessa Pineda Fox was born in Queens, NY, to Colombian parents and grew up on Long Island. She earned her BFA in Graphic Design from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, studying under artists Juan González and Richard Wilde. After working in new media as a freelance graphic designer, art director, and creative director, she shifted her focus toward painting and hands-on making following the birth of her first child.
Pineda Fox’s practice centers on acrylic painting, layered materials, and the use of handwritten language as texture. Through metallics, mattes, and resin, she explores how light interacts with the surface, inviting viewers to look closer and form personal associations. By investigating language on a meta-level, her work transforms text into ornament—sometimes legible, sometimes abstract—creating poetic, emotionally resonant spaces where meaning remains open and multifaceted.
