"Energizing, abstract mark making, painting and collage."
Gilmore is a Seattle based artist who works primarily with acrylic paint, collage materials, ink and graphite. She composes her abstract paintings from observed landscapes in her world, but she often makes up parts as well. Gilmore paints intuitively, experimenting with the paint texture and color as she composes.
Gilmore has been a painter since she was a kid. She majored in education and minored in art and later went back to art school at University of Washington. She was an artist in residence at Capitol Hill Presbytery for 17 years and is currently an Arts Commissioner for her City. She also co-owns a toy store in Seattle. She has two kids and a husband and a multitude of animals.
