"Between 2012 and 2014, Xavier Veilhan was at work on his “Architectones,” site-specific interventions into famous modernist buildings. Among other techniques, Veilhan used steel cables to highlight in three dimensions some of his favorite gestures in the architecture of greats like Le Corbusier, John Lautner and Claude Parent. The buildings also served as offbeat exhibition spaces for Veilhan’s own sculpture, his faceted statuary and giant mobiles interacting playfully with the structures’ interiors and exteriors. They’re cool, and, like much of Veilhan’s work, pay tribute to his artistic influences while remaining aesthetically engaging."
