THE COAST is an architecture and design practice dedicated to making spaces and objects. Without polemic nor presumption, but always with an eye for the surreal and fun, our projects combine form, material and craft to create the in-between - spaces for suspended reflection - in a curious world of people, objects and cultures.
PAUL CHAN is an architect and designer born and raised in Hong Kong but did his growing up in New York City. Before founding THE COAST in 2018, he co-founded A:LOG- a notebook for architects and worked at ASH, DillerScofidio+Renfro, and Obra Architects. He was educated at Parsons School of Design, University of Pennsylvania, and holds a Master of Architecture and a Master of Science in Development from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at Columbia University, where he was awarded the CURE award for the advancement of transdisciplinary research in architecture and urban development.
