Tesseract Woodworks, founded by Kenneth Crompton in 2015, is a full-service, fine-carpentry shop building everything from fine furniture to custom mantles out of many types of materials. They specialize in mixed-media projects that incorporate wood, metal, stone and plastics.
Crompton was born and raised in San Jose, and one of his fondest childhood memories was the fragrant smell of fresh cut wood during his visits to his grandfather's wood-working shop. He used to play for hours with his Tonka truck moving sawdust from place to place. As a young man he began helping his father with various construction, cabinet, and furniture projects.
Before long he realized his affinity for carpentry, as well as the more detail-oriented aspects of the craft like cabinet making and furniture design. At the age of 30 he moved to San Francisco and started doing construction projects under the name Bay Handyman. He started Tesseract after deciding to focus his attention on fine wood working.
