My work explores the joy of color and its amazing power to connect and uplift the human spirit. My keenly felt experience of color is expressed through textures, marks and rich patches of pigment. My process involves the intuitive addition and subtraction of paint in which I mine the surface for buried shapes and textures. Throughout this process, the work reveals its unique DNA.
I bring long history of the written word to my art practice. My education and professional background is in journalism. After graduation from Marquette University, I lived and worked as a news reporter and advertising copywriter in New York, Minneapolis and Chicago. When I moved back to Wisconsin in 2016, I was ready for a change of expression; that's when I put down the pen and picked up the paintbrush.
My work is represented by Gallery 2o7 in Milwaukee WI. It is also in private collections and has been shown in Sangerhouse Gardens for the Doors Open MKE event in 2017, 2018; Walkers Point Center for the Arts Member Exhibition, Near West Side Craft Exhibition, and the Art Bar, Milwaukee.
In February 2020, I have a solo showing of my art at Gallery 2622.
