Maya is a native of Southern California, specializing in handmade, indigo dyed works, and fiber arts. Her eye for texture and tone, along with a kinship for natural materials, led her to start her own line "Juniper & Fir," with a desire to incorporate the shibori indigo dyeing process into production of each individual piece. Marrying the tradition of a beloved art practice with contemporary works for a functional home, Maya designs wall hangings, textiles, and pillows, sharing her love for handwork, color, and beauty.
Before Juniper & Fir, Maya refined her knack for production and design as a visual merchandiser in apparel for over a decade. She currently lives and works in her home studio in Echo Park.
