Originality and richness is what you can see in the work of Marisol D'Estrabeau. The multiplicity of elements in her imagination, which is full of symbols that appear on the threshold of dreamlike worlds, clearly express her worldview. Marisol has been able to create her own language based on a set of plastic and aesthetic values. Her work has become very prolific, and ever since 2007 her style has developed to afford a very identifiable from of expression. Marisol believes that the movement of life becomes apparent through our thoughts and dreams. In this case, the movement responds to the immediate act of being; it is the essence that allows life and the ephemeral reality to exist, and during this process it motivates us to change, to overcome, and to harmonize. She has no formal rules in her composition, and that is why her style seems so spontaneous and creative. The pictorial discourse expands or contracts according to what the author decides to portray. In her view--the magical quality of the flesh --is not only to access the innocent or the perverse attitudes found in the work, but it is rather a means to show knowledge and love for life itself. Her language has developed to such a degree that can bestow three dimensions upon any of her characters who cannot lose the magic halo that contains them. To create them, she touches base with her reality, with her childhood memories when she used to peer through her father’s microscope and would be surprised to find worlds so rich in shapes. With full intention, she creates a third reality within the current realm: her magical characters are transformed, and tell us that there are disguises in a world where social life suffers constant change; it evolves, it regresses, it increases and decreases. “At the end of the day, we all wear disguises,” says the artist. She is subjected to an intense internal dialogue that nurtures the iconographic content of her paintings, well-defined fields of color that show a passion for lines--but not the straight ones--the wavy lines. Her shapes may cause surprise due to their bizarre forms, but they are shapes of such prodigality that they transport the beholder towards an optimistic feeling that reminds us of her peculiar feminine sense found in the profusion of the forms.
