“Lampo Leong was born in Guangzhou in 1961, received his PhD in Art Theory and Practice from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, MFA in painting with High Distinction from the California College of the Arts, and BFA in ink painting from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Leong currently works as a professor of Art at the University of Missouri-Columbia and a former Art Department Chair. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and Central China Normal University.
Leong’s works can be found in the collection of Stanford University, the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Museu de Arte de Macau, the Guangdong Museum of Art, the Written Art Foundation in Germany, etc.
His artwork has been featured in more than 55 solo and 250 group shows internationally, and his artwork is included in many collections, such as The Cantor Center for the Visual Arts at Stanford University, the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, and the Guangdong Museum of Art in China. He has also collaborated with performers and composers for multi-media performances and a digital film premiered at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.”
