Julie Dunster is passionate about painting from life, on location, in all weathers. She works in oils, capturing the essence of a moment in the landscape. Occasionally she works in her mid-Devon studio, using studies made en plein air to inform her painting.
Highly commended for her painting of HRH Queen Elizabeth's private moat garden at her first painting competition (Windsor & Eton En Plein Air in 2018) Julie participated in the Art In The Open Festival and exhibition in Ireland and won first prize in The Broadway Paint Off in the Cotswolds in 2019. She was also an Artist In Residence at the Salcombe Merlin Regatta 2019.
She has exhibited in group shows at The Harbour House Gallery in Kingsbridge and has had solo shows at local venues across Devon, including The Ginnel Gallery, Salcombe, and also in Western Australia, where she lived for nearly four years.
She enjoys running personalised "Introduction to painting en plein air" workshops for individuals and small groups, drawing upon years of experience running training courses in the commercial and voluntary sector. Julie also holds a first-class degree in Education and Psychology
