"Watercolor Batik Paintings and Prints Inspired By and Created in the Heartland"
Jessica Flores is a painter and illlustrator from Indiana. She began painting in watercolor over 20 years ago and has always been inspired by natural subjects. Currently, she is creating texture with a batik technique she has perfected over the past decade. "The element of surprise this method offers is a constant source of excitement for me. Layering different media on top adds even more possibilities to tell a compelling story, whether it's the sweeping landscape of fields and trees out my kitchen window or the detail of a poplar pod from a tree at my childhood home."
A lifelong resident of rural Indiana, she hopes to share the unique blueprint of the Midwest and the concept of "home" in a contemporary and relevant way through her paintings and drawings.
