"fuse Chinese cultures and philosophies into sculptural forms"
Boon Kee’s yearning to fuse Chinese cultures and philosophies with his sculpting expression has enabled him to push the boundaries of sculptural forms. He is recognised by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China as an outstanding overseas Chinese artist.
His Chinese calligraphy sculptures have been a favourite series with collectors, buyers and galleries. He studies the Chinese cursive script and reinterprets the calligraphic characters into three-dimensional works, creating an illusion of calligraphy in the air.
Boon Kee creates his maquettes and small works in his studio space in Singapore. He works closely with some dedicated fabricators and foundries in China since the past two decades to produce his works and sculpture commissions. He pursues to explore and develop original themes and art series.
