When I think of art, I think of Beauty, the space the art exists in and engaging the viewer in a visual experience. My inspirations come from art history, mostly Italian and Dutch Painting, ancient monuments and prehistoric artworks. Art is something that one lives with, and so my paintings are conceived over time, and they also change over time.
My early career as an architectural photographer has framed my eye to the use of space and light, and the dynamic way the wall and the surroundings play on the objects within that space. Over time, I wanted to make unique objects and thus started my journey within the studio.
My current work focuses on Islamic patterns, motifs and patterns derived from architectural spaces to create paintings that I hope will activate the viewer’s space and daily experience.
