"Blythe Scott is a mixed media artist who works with harmonious colour, sensuous texture and luxurious metal leaf. She is inspired by beautiful locations to present an uplifting view of the world."
In 1969, Blythe Scott was born in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2012, she moved to Vancouver Island BC Canada where she works from her home studio as a full time mixed media artist.
Immediately after high school, Blythe was fortunate to be accepted as a student at the prestigious Glasgow School of Art where she graduated with an honours degree in 1991. A few years later, she achieved a post graduate with distinction in Art & Design Education from Strathclyde University.
Since then, she has travelled to and lived in various cities around the world and has worked as a decorative artist in Paris, gallery artist, gallery assistant and a passionate teacher of adults and children.
Today, her time is entirely dedicated to producing art. She uses watercolour, acrylics, mixed media and collage. Her work is underpinned by rigorous drawing on a variety of scales and she focuses mainly on landscape, cityscape and still life. Blythe exhibits in galleries on the mainland of Canada, the States and the UK and also sells directly by appointment from her home studio in Victoria. She very much enjoys working to commission and in partnership with designers. Her work is in private and corporate collections in North America, Asia, the UK, mainland Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Iceland.
