My art explores the materials themselves: rich black ink soaked in water, the texture of acrylic brush strokes and the lightness of a silky charcoal line. They are autobiographical; reflecting contrasts, opposites, and contradictions. Dark versus light, hard versus soft. The preferred palette is black and white. Black, always the anchor. The pieces are intense but fluid. They are organic in nature and in process. The materials are the guide and I obediently follow. The paintings embody emotion, tension, and simplicity within a minimal, primitive context. Imperfect, childlike gestures and movement.
