The owner wanted the walls of Churchill to look well-weathered and naturally aged, so he commissioned Willem Racké to pull off the effect. He covered the walls with a special treatment paper, putting it up and then pulling it down over and over again, until they resembled an old billboard that’s been used a lot.

Incredible, fabulous finishes for interior design!

Willem Racké founded his studio in San Francisco in 1989 with a focus on collaborating with interior designers, architects and clients to create beautiful decorative finishes, custom hand-finished plaster, murals and cabinetry.

Racké has a long history in the art of the painted finish, beginning in Manhattan where he assisted Jeffery Johnson, a noted finish artisan. A full staff of multi-talented artisans are ready to assist in the realization of any designer or client’s vision within a time frame suited to the project.
