Amuneal worked with the design team to develop a digital fabrication approach to these fabric-inspired wood walls. This collaboration streamlined the engineering, and allowed us to shift our focus to the fabrication and installation of 120 linear feet of these 5-axis carved decorative panels. Originally envisioned in solid walnut, the proposal was rejected by the hospital due to concerns regarding cleaning and long-term durability. In the end we developed a thermoformed laminate solution that gave both the hospital and the designers the look and durability that the project required. The renovated FETAL Center at Children's Medical Center Dallas was designed by Gensler Dallas.
