"Along the Way" is a 20-minute video mosaic that can be viewed at Oakland International Airport. It includes more than 1,500 videos taken artists and featuring the people and places of Oakland and the surrounding Bay Area.
This piece bears witness to a nine-month journey that the artists undertook among the people of the Bay Area. Viewers are reminded that a community is made up of a myriad of peoples; individuals of different ages, races, and socio-economic backgrounds are depicted without being categorized.
The diversity of Oakland and its vibrancy is captured in extraordinary video portraits of everyday people. This film was made in collaboration with the Cause Collective, aka Jessica Ingram, Bayete Ross-Smith, Jorge Sanchez, and Hank Willis Thomas.
