This beautiful succulent planter is made of a folded slab of gray clay, it makes the best housewarming gift. It is a small ceramic flower pot decorated with a carved bird.
Like an envelope, it is folded to hold your choice of plant. While the clay form was leather hard I carved the bird image using the sgraffito * technique. The interior of the pot is glazed.
The planter is without a drainage hole, so please place some pebbles in the bottom of the planter. This will keep the roots up out of any residual water and will help to keep your plant healthy.

Hand-carved design using Sgraffito* technique
Matte glaze
Fired in the kiln at 1200 degrees Celsius
Height: 3.74" //9.5 cm
Width/Length: 5.11" // 13 cm
*sgraffito: a form of decoration made by scratching through a surface to reveal a lower layer of a contrasting color, typically done in plaster or stucco on walls, or in slip on ceramics before firing.
Materials: black slip, gray stoneware, matte cream glaze.
