This tile design was created and fabricated for 3 seating benches in the newly renovated Cesar Chavez Park in the Fruitvale neighborhood in Oakland. Tiles were stamped and carved using Aztec and Mayan imagery. Workshops were conducted with children and teenagers to make and glaze tiles used in the patterned areas.
The project was commissioned by the Oakland Arts Commission and was made in collaboration with Colette Crutcher
