2019

A range of bespoke products designed specially for well known ceramicist Anthony Shapiro for his Ant + Linda COLLECT ceramic range.

For the designs, we shot the ceramic patterns which had been carved into the clay so you can see the handmade marks and natural texture of the carving on the fired clay, and turned them into repeat patterns to be printed and used on the various products.

Sera is a freelance designer/illustrator and artist based in Cape Town, South Africa. She is best known for her quirky textiles and designer homeware products that she manufactured under her own textile and homeware range called Handmade By Me.

As a designer, Sera offers a considered and unique approach to her work. Her design specialties lie in surface pattern, textiles and branding, often with a South African and international perspective.

She offers consulting services for retail product development, and has provided custom design work and products for businesses such as The Trading Co at Spice Route, Klein Constantia, Spier and Ellerman House. She also offers limited products on request from her Handmade By Me range, which was launched in 2012 to offer bespoke design services and high quality South African-made homeware products and fashion accessories for the local and international market.

Before settling in Cape Town, Sera worked as a senior graphic designer at JWT In Dublin for eight years where she supported a variety of projects for large and small corporate clients.

As an artist, Sera is gaining recognition for her love of thick impasto oil paint where she strives to merge the abstract with the real. Up close, her artwork appears to be in total chaos, but as you zoom out, order is restored and the image is revealed. While Sera is predominantly inspired by the beautiful natural landscape in which she lives, she also enjoys exploring themes of colour and texture, often with an element of playfulness.
