The Charcoal Blocks are a grouping of five upright and angled tables. Each of the individual pieces sits with a tilted stance and together they can be organized into a row, grouped loosely in a random arrangement or placed into some variation between the two. As the table is a composition of individual pieces the orientation and arrangements can change as desired and a piece can even be pulled away as a side table or stool. With end grain tops, the blackened and burnt finish deepens the natural characteristics in the grain, accentuating the rings, checks, and other textures from the beam’s history. These simple angles, geometric forms, and the dark tactile finish create a sculptural and modern statement in any interior. Constructed from salvaged Douglas fir beams. These handmade pieces are twice burned, wire brushed, and finished with a matte oil based seal. All dimensions are approximate and each piece is unique.

Meet the Creator
Wescover creator since 2018
Yvonne Mouser is an Oakland based artist, designer, and builder engaged in creative practice that spans furniture design, product, spaces, fine art, and events.

As a designer Yvonne focuses on creating everyday objects that give meaning to experience or tell a story through their function. They are simple, well crafted, and intentional pieces that are meant to be used.

As an artist her work engages with the temporal nature of reality, exploring in between times flow to expose a process, reveal a fleeting moment or capture moments caught in transformation.

Her practice is deeply rooted in the process of making, where ideas and techniques are supported by a hands-on approach providing opportunities to experiment, test, and prototype, and the final results are executed with detail and craft.

Yvonne works both independently and with a diverse group of collaborators. Her own design studio creates one of a kind objects and small run production pieces. She is co-founder of New Factory a design studio and workshop, Thought for Food, where she focuses on the artifacts and experiences of eating, and, YMSF, a collaboration with Stella Fluorescent that explores utility, materials and scale.

Her work is included in private collections and has been exhibited internationally and throughout the Bay Area including the San Francisco Museum of Craft and Design, the Museum of Craft and Folk Art, COPIA, the Maloof Foundation for Arts and Crafts, and the Headlands Center for the Arts."
