Im Erin True, founder and president of Urban Wood Goods, a woman owned reclaimed wood furniture business with a focus on sustainability. 10 years ago I founded UWG after I was unable to secure an art teaching job(taught in Detroit 8 years) after relocating to Chicago from Detroit. I discovered a passion for reclaiming old wood and turning it into beautiful furniture as a project for my home and later ended up turning that into an actual business on the Etsy marketplace, when I couldn't find an art teaching job.
