This coffee table is made of solid maple which has been dyed black. It is inlaid with many many nails. The nails are glued into pilot holes, clipped and sanded flush with the table surface then polished. The result is a floral pattern of shiny dots on a black surface. The pattern is from a 19th century textile. All pieces are made by hand, one at a time by me in my rural New Hampshire shop.
