New design, Shinto inspired coffee table with a Maple top and White Oak base find it here on Wescover Facebook. Lots of hand tool work here from band saw and jig cutting to handmade loose tenon joints and handmade plugs for dowling. Solid and unique with a flame Maple surface. 18" tall x 14" wide x 48" in length
Something about Japanese woodworking lends itself to fluid and creative design principles. I treat these pieces like painting and sculpture, no patterns but a lot of positioning, looking and relooking and final cutting. In the process of realizing a new design my projects are looked at from every angle (other cuts may be dropped in per the the process) until to final aesthetic decision is made. Truly handcrafted and one of a kind, spoiled over and unique, that's the best way I can describe my work
