Sanctuary is a black and white mural created by Max Allbee in Greenpoint Brooklyn. Dedicated to all immigrants, migrants, refugees, dreamers and those who struggle every day in these uncertain times. This sad but beautiful piece validates and questions whether where we are is or is not still a true sanctuary for those who need it to be.

"Max Allbee is a visual artist and educator from San Francisco, California currently based in New York City. Max’s artwork explores a fascination of the identity of place, nostalgia and the changing urban landscape. Max specializes in drawing, mural painting and printmaking, yet being a teaching artist has always been a part of his creative practice. Max is currently a candidate for a Masters in Art Education at City College of New York, whose mascot is a Beaver and Max studied Art Ed and Spanish at The Evergreen State College, whose mascot is a Geoduck. In his 2013-2015 series titled Far from Home; Home from Afar Max mixed imagery from NY and SF to inform densely illustrated scenes exploring real and imagined worlds. Max stays busy teaching regularly with various arts organizations and schools in New York as well as drawing, painting and taking lots of pictures of storefronts and other found inspiration."
