Interpreting narratives, with confident, neutral, and bold palettes.

Kassia Rico is an LA-based, Chinese-Mexican American graphic artist and designer, working with drawing, painting, and illustration. She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design, with a BFA in illustration and focused on cross-disciplinary studies in STEAM research, painting, and printmaking. Now resides in a live-in and work-in studio and humble plant oasis.

Centered around themes of inclusivity, diversity, and self-understanding, Kassia’s work focuses on women, outsiders, and color as a motivation of power and global language. She also have extensive commercial experience, and recently residential, ensuring good storytelling, creator-care, and color confidence across a number projects.

With the start of each new piece, Kassia strives to keep each painting open to new opportunities, and having a coherent body of work and sizing. With each bespoke commission, she ensures client's unique stories are interpreted confidently as prints or human-scale pieces, and are uniquely made-for-you.

Rooting for the viewer to contemplate ideas of relationships, connection outside primary circles, or just for quietude. Investigations in changing perspectives in a bold, confident palette of vibrant lights, soft pastels, and subtle shades.

In Los Angeles, Kassia has exhibited her work in group shows and events. She once painted a mural in Downtown Los Angeles - the two-story wall was given to her from @zoueh_skotnes, and her mural still exists, uninhibited, to this day.

Kassia has worked with Artillery Magazine, Allure, The Los Angeles Times, Subliminal Projects, Los Angeles Metro, and The Huntington Gardens and Library, among other institutions and non-profits. Her work was most recently acquired by the Los Angeles Metro Art collection.
