Ratio Beer Works - Street Murals

Featured In Denver, CO

Item details

The annual mural festival in Denver, CO., Colorado Crush, provides an open space for me to push my creativity without boundaries on grand scales.

As a second time contributor at this non-profit event, I was asked to add my vision to the beloved local brewery and community gathering point, RATIO Beerworks. After my Trimet Holgate project, this was one of my most ambitious murals to date. I threw my entire tool box and experience at this one. Over the course of eight days in 95 degree weather, along with six assistants coming and going, we managed to complete this very site specific mural, honoring the RATIO lineage and harmonizing all my styles into one cohesive piece that marks a significant creative milestone in my mural pursuits.

It was a collaborative effort realizing this brave solution with the staff at RATIO. They brought such a profound rich history and personal narratives that ultimately enriched the vision of this piece with my own ideas all graphically based around the golden rectangle. In this design you might notice two golden rectangles, one inverted. Lastly, most always ask who the portrait is, Louis Pasteur, French microbiologist and inventor of pasteurization. and fermintation.

Basically, if you are drinking a beer, toast the man! That refreshing barley pop wouldn’t have been possible with out him.

Its really simple, we're complicated.

Blaine Fontana currently lives and works in Portland, Oregon. Imbuing his vision with the divine symbolism of religious myths, worldly folklore and current social dynamics, his works contain a kind of shamanic exploration of meaning that recognizes the totemic quality and power of the image. Fontana’s work displays a virtuosic understanding of sign & simulacra and their role within our contemporary visual culture. Straddling the physical and metaphysical, organic and architectural, painterly and graphic sensibilities, Blaine fuses multiple visual strategies to forge an aesthetic language entirely of his own making.

His works have been published in a variety of publications, including VNA, Paper Sea, iDN, Hi-Fructose, Juxtapoz, My Name Is, Sycamore Review, Soul Pancake, and Mod Art. He has exhibited nationally in New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Detroit, Chicago, Denver, Austin, Miami, Portland and Seattle, and internationally in Tokyo, Germany and Canada,

Fontana has been commissioned for and designed and licensed work for a number of companies and organizations including TEDx, VANS, adidas, ZERO+ Publishing, FELT Bicycles, Umpqua Bank, Breakside Brewery, Ninkasi Brewing, SCION, Redley, Patagonia, Nike, Toyota, City of Portland/Denver/Salem, P.E.A.R., Kid Robot, Upper Playground, Quiksilver, Ocean Pacific and Arbor Sports.

He is regularly involved and donates to non profits, charities and volunteers numerous hours for his community, people in need and making this world a better place than how he found it.

When he is rarely working he is a deeply loving partner, mentor to Louise, doggy playing, adventure glamping sexual, backyard hosting, hot tub championing, big ocean sniffing, river raging, family bonding and nature loving man who has a big thirst of everything and loves nothing more than sharing all his entire being with amazing human beings.
