My work for the Bluebird London restaurant in 2018 was my first large scale installation. I was commissioned by Leslie Ann Wigon to make 32 works for the gallery wall of the restaurant, designed by Cetra Ruddy. Leslie had my work framed in these gorgeous internally lit shadow boxes, and the final effect is *chefs kiss*
Portraiture and figuration are my passion, and you can see the seeds of some of my more recent series in this project - a loose gestural style influenced by Matisse and Spangsberg combining with my own graphic illustrative side, influenced by manga, cartoon theory, and the art of Parra and Barry McGee.
The multifaces in this installation were some of my first, and I still do them to this day.
