Sculptures by Matthew Dehaemers seen at Los Angeles County Fire Dept. Station 156, Santa Clarita - Convergence

Convergence

“Convergence" (lithocrete, carved boulder; 2011) is sculptor
Matt Dehaemers' fire pit, which he made for the exterior courtyard at Los Angeles County Fire Dept. Station #156.

The surface is richly colored and patterned in lithocrete, and the “pit” is a carved-out boulder.

The fire pit is created out of a solid blue granite boulder and the surface is richly colored and patterned in lithocrete. A Lithomosaic construction using colored glass and rock pieces forms the groundwork around the pit, with an inlay of four silhouetted Coastal Oak tree forms whose branches converge on the central fire pit.
